Dublin City Development Plan: 2011-1017

The new Development Plan sets out to develop a low carbon sustainable city. The aim is to build a “compact city” that is better interconnected for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users. Reflecting this objective:

■ No new land is zoned
■ A target of just 20% travelling by
car into the city centre
■ Reliance on landfill for waste is to fall to 1/3rd of existing levels

The targets are ambitious, but they will take a lot of work to deliver them. The route of the Metro North is to form an Economic Corridor embracing the Airport, the Mater, DCU, Ballymun and Grange Gorman.
Locally the plan includes:
■ Village improvements for Donnycarney, Marino and Drumcondra.
■ An architectural conservation zone around the Casino in Marino.
■ Implement the management plan for St. Anne’s Park,
■ An enhancement of the Santry River Valley in Springdale Park.
