The finishing touches are being put on the impressive €2.7m Clontarf sports complex, which replaces the old children’s traffic school on the Alfie Byrne road. It is a joint project by the Dublin GAA County Board and Dublin City Council:
➤ The Dublin County Board are likely to have full control over the GAA pitch
➤ People will be able to book games on the soccer/rugby pitch or the 7-a-side soccer pitches from Dublin City Council
The final management plans are being prepared at the moment, and the pitches will be open by summer time.

Green Light for €30m Coolock GAA Plan

Permission (3653/09) has been granted for the redevelopment of Parnell Club, subject to some small reduction in housing units. The development will include:
• A new club house and three playing pitches
• A mixture of of 96 apartments and semi detached houses
• A medical centre and shop unit on the site of the existing clubhouse
One of the planning conditions requires that fl oodlights must be off by 10pm, the clubhouse at midnight (1am on Sat), unless special permission is given by the council.

€10m Cycle Track

The city council have published a plan for a €10m Cycle Track to run along the Royal Canal to the junction of West Road before linking up with the existing cycle path which skirts Fairview Park. On the Southside it will run along the canal towards Rathmines and link up with Grand Canal. Local businesses objected to the loss of 270 on street parking spaces.
