Age Action offers a range of very practical supports for pensioners:
 A team of volunteers and handymen who are available to carry out small jobs for older people e.g. repairs, mowing lawns, changing light bulbs, moving furniture etc. Although this is being expanded, in this constituency it is currently only available in Dublin 3, 9, and 17. It hasn’t yet been extended to Dublin 5.
 Trades Referral Service: A list of honest and trustworthy tradesmen.
 Quote Check Service: An experienced volunteer will visit to assess a large job, and give an informed opinion about a quote received from a professional tradesperson. For further information please phone (Lo Call) 1890 369 369.

Energy Action:
Energy Action, a not for profit organisation, provides a free draught proofing and insulation service to pensioners living alone. They also provide basic home security like mortice locks, door chains, window locks and spy holes. This service is available generally in the greater Dublin area. You’ll need your pension number when applying. For more information call 454 5464
